INDLUNKULU is waiting for its Chancellor, King Malusi Zondi, to be the one to come personally and have something to say about the issue of his name being used in the allegations that he was the frontrunner in the selection of the company that won the water tender in Mkhomazi.
The allegations say that the water tender cost R20 billion and that Zondi ended up benefiting from R8 million for “protection”. Zondi this week released a statement defending himself against the allegations and warned that he will take legal action if they do not stop.
According to reports, Zondi received this money from the company because he said that he helped it to work well, that no soul would leave and that no worker would be harmed in this tender of millions of rands for Mengi-uThukela Water.
According to News24 reports, it appears that there is an invoice from Zondi’s company called Mancinza that he used to get his payment from Stefanutti Stock which is the company that got the job.
The spokesperson for the Royal Palace, Prince Thulani Zulu, was asked by Solezwe Ngekeende if he had reached to see the news that the Chancellor was so worried about, he agreed.
However, he said that they cannot accept everything that is written in the newspapers and that they are always making a decision because of that there is no concrete thing that is being talked about.
He stated that they will wait for the chancellor himself to come to them and then someone will tell them about this matter.
”So far, he has never had the opportunity to come here. We will wait for him until he arrives and he explains exactly what happened. Also if he wants to explain to us,” he said.
But he emphasized that they in the Royal Palace will not simply take the rumors mentioned by the media and believe them without the Chancellor saying anything. ”We are making a big mistake if we do that,” emphasized the Prince of Zibindini.
He said that everything in the Royal Palace has its own policy, it should not be assumed without concrete evidence on the matter in question.
In all of this, Zondi has denied that his name is being defamed by people he does not know. He stated that these allegations are serious and depress him a lot.
He emphasized that he is innocent because he does business work that is free of corruption, straightforward, leaves no questions and is carried out without scams.
”These allegations are very bad and are blatant lies. The truth is that I’m just doing direct business work,” he said in response to the statement he issued.
In relation to the project in question, he said that his role was to provide them with security guards and to ensure that they are able to communicate properly with the public legally.
”In this work in question, there is no where it can be said that I ended up being involved in crime, there is nothing like that,” he explained.
It will be remembered that the tender in question has been delayed and it ended there until blood was spilled.
This came after Mr. Xolani Chamane who was the Director of Mgeni Water was shot dead. The deceased who was responsible for this work was shot in the garage, Westville in July 2023.
This case appears to be in the hands of the Public Prosecution Unit.
The tender was in the headlines even when its issue reached the court after a company called CSEC took it to court complaining that it was dismissed in an inappropriate manner.
It is being talked about so much, many people including the people of Mkhomazi, Kwa Makhutha, Manzimtoti, are looking forward to the completion of the construction of the Ngwadini dam so that they can easily get water.
According to reports, about 50,000 people will benefit once the tender is completed. This project is described as very important as the President of the country Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa once spoke about it and the importance of it being completed for the benefit of the citizens.
It will be remembered that Zondi was appointed by Silo to be the ambassador of the seat of Zulu in order to facilitate communication between businessmen and international investors with the aim of developing the whole nation.
