FISA is that the case of the murder of a police officer from Cato Manor, Mayville, his family, which has been in court for the last time, has been adjourned for the last time by the Durban Magistrate’s Court.

He said this outside the court yesterday following the appearance of the four accused of stabbing, killing Sergeant Mondli Gabisa (39) on November 8 last year.

Gabisa’s body was said to have been found lying outside the Mayville flats by the police, it was revealed that he was stabbed and killed, after an argument with the suspects, and his service gun was found at the scene.

The police then arrested Mr. Thalenta Griffiths Cele (42), Mr. Philani “Maphila” Mhlongo (29), matric student Minenhle Amahle Cele (20) and Ms. Nadia Shezi (25). It is a country found out that Talenta and Minenhle are siblings.

The State Prosecutor, Mr. Calvin Govender, told the court that the docket is still sitting in the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in the province to decide in which court the case will be heard.

He also pointed out that the autopsy report is still missing from the investigation, the Magistrate, Mr. Ashwin Singh then decided that the case will be postponed to March 27 this year to continue with this investigation.

The sister of the deceased, Ms. Thobile Gabisa commented briefly and said: “We are praying that when we are settled in the future, it will be given to the court where it will be tried.”

However, he said they understand that in some cases, justice is not as fast as they would like.

“However, we have hope that justice will finally be served,” he said.

In this case, the first, second and third accused are accused of killing the deceased and the fourth is accused of beating the wife of the deceased who was said to be with him on the day of the incident.

When they applied for bail last year, the three original suspects, namely Cele, Mhlongo and Minenhle, were denied bail, while the fourth, was released on R1000 which was accompanied by the conditions that he not make the mistake of trying to contact the deceased’s wife.

After their arrest last year, it was revealed that Minenhle was arrested just as he was studying for matric and writing his final exams. He tried to put this as one of the points to be released on bail, but the court ignored him.
