The EFF is angry at what it calls the ANC’s efforts to delay the establishment of a committee that will carry out the process of removing President Cyril Ramaphosa from office.

The EFF expressed disgust after reports emerged that the ANC failed to meet the deadline to submit the names of the members who will represent it in the committee that will carry out the plan to remove Ramaphosa from office.

The ANC will be represented by nine members in the committee of 31 people.

Political parties were set a deadline of last week to submit candidates, and the members of the committee should be announced this week.

Reports indicate that the ANC did not meet the deadline due to the disagreement between the Secretary General, Mr. Fikile Mbalula, and the Chief Whip in Parliament, Mr. Mdumiseni Ntuli, on the names of the people who should be assigned to the committee.

EFF spokesperson, Mr. Sinawo Thambo, said it is not true that Mbalula and Ntuli do not agree on the names of people who should be assigned to the committee.

Thambo said the ANC leaders deliberately did not submit the names of the people who will represent the organization because they wanted to delay the work of the committee.

“Since they didn’t just send the names of the people who will represent them to the committee, they are deliberately disrupting the work of the committee. They know very well that if they don’t send the names of the people who will represent them, the establishment of the committee will be delayed, meaning that it will not start its work.”

Thambo said that the ANC has clearly shown that it will once again abuse its power in Parliament.

“We condemn this action and urge the immediate establishment of a committee. We will not allow any political party to interfere with the work of the committee.”

Mbalula became involved when he was asked about the appointment of people who will represent the ANC in the committee.

Asked by the media who were camped outside where the executive council meeting was held, Mbalula said that the people appointed by the ANC will be known soon.

“We will appoint nine people. The people we will appoint are people who know their work. You will know their names when the names of the committee members are announced this week.”

Political parties have assigned heavyweights to represent them in the committee.

The MKP team will be led by its deputy leader in Parliament, Dr. John Hlophe, and the party’s whip in Parliament, Mrs. Mmabatho Mokoena-Zondi.

The IFP will be represented by its whip in Parliament, Mr. Nhlanhla Hadebe, while Bosa will be represented by its leader, Mr. Mmusi Maimane.

The DA team will be led by its leader in Parliament, Mr. George Michalakis.
