He WANTS all immigrant shops to be closed in D Ward, KwaMashu, a woman who lost her child on Tuesday, said to have just finished drinking an energy drink.
Mpilo Siyamthanda Shezi (13) who is said to have been studying Grade 7 at Zamokuhle Primary, right at D, KwaMashu, is said to have lost strength and fell down and died.
According to his mother, Ms. Thembeka Shezi, two energy drinks were consumed by the deceased which he bought from a Pakistani immigrant shop.
“His friends who were traveling with him said that he came and bought the first one in the morning, and drank it before they left for school. They said that he passed by again and bought the second one, and drank it in the afternoon,” said Ms. Shezi.
He said the energy drink his child drank was reboost and when he explained it, he said it was the new 300ml bottles. because the incident happened close to home, the friends of the deceased, ran to inform them at home that there is something they don’t see well in him.
“They came and said that he had already fainted, after drinking the reboost. We rushed there, and found him speechless and motionless. We rushed him to the Poly clinic and when we arrived, the nurses said there was nothing they could do because he was already dead,” he said.
He said his friends told them that after drinking the energy drink, they saw him as if he was being hit by a bat, and then he fell. Personally, he said they told them they thought he was fainting, he said the same shop has been selling different goods to people in the area for years. Ms. Shezi had never heard of a death incident.
He then expressed his concern, saying that they suspect that the immigrants of these shops are doing something to the goods they sell because June 30, which is set for them in this country, is approaching.
“Which means that there is poison that they have put in their clothes to kill the people of this country. Which means that this is their way of revenge and causing us pain,” he said.
He pointed out that since last year, videos of children burping themselves after eating the things they bought from these stores have been circulating, and he started to admonish his son not to buy from them again.
“But you know that children will always act like children. Which means that she continued to shop there, not knowing that it was dangerous,” said Ms. Shezi.
He said that the concerned shop was closed by the fed up community yesterday, but he said that they are worried that there are other immigrant shops that are still operating and personally, they should have all been closed because the community is afraid of the safety of the children in the area.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Captain Ntathu Ndlovu, said the KwaMashu police opened a post mortem following the death of a boy (13).
“Reports say that he had a breathing problem. It goes on to say that he had been drinking an energy drink before he had this problem. The police investigation is ongoing,” said Capt Ndlovu.
