ENDING the season in third place is not something that should be taken as a success for a big team like Kaizer Chiefs according to one of the acting coaches of this team, Khalil Ben Youssef.

The coach who is training Amakhosi in collaboration with Cedric Kaze said that he wants all the points from the remaining Betway Premiership games and then see where they finish on the log.

Chiefs, who are in amazing form these days, won their fifth league game in a row by beating Magesi FC 4-1 on Wednesday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane.

This win with goals from Flavio Da Silva, Wandile Duba, Mduduzi Shabalala and Khanyisa Mayo kept Chiefs’ place behind Orlando Pirates with 45 points in 23 games.

Ben Youssef told the media that he is looking for full points in all the seven remaining games for his team.

“Third place is not something that should be celebrated in a big team like Chiefs, that’s why we still have to put more effort in the remaining games. We have the yoke to win all the remaining games and then sit down and see where we finish on the log,” said the coach.

The Chiefs are starting to collect 45 points since they were last coached by Arthur Zwane in 2022. They can finish in 66 if they win all their remaining games.

As it will face Polokwane City on Saturday at 5.30 pm, at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, it will be followed by Pirates, Siwelele FC, Mamelodi Sundowns, Sekhukhune United, AmaZulu FC and Chippa United.

Although he did not put it bluntly, but Ben Youssef’s speech had particles to indicate that they have not given up hope by moving Pirates to second place.

This seems to be an uphill battle as the Pirates (who are leading the game) are 10 points better than the Chiefs, but it is difficult to predict the results of football, especially since these giants from Soweto will meet on April 26 at FNB Stadium, Nasrec.
