The OFFICIAL in charge of marketing at Kaizer Chiefs, Jessica Motaung, clarified the matter of the coach who is expected to take charge of the team next season and the players who are expected to be signed when the Toyota Cup competition was launched yesterday, at Naturena, Johannesburg.

The Chiefs will face Scotland FC from Zimbabwe in the Toyota Cup on July 26, at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, Rustenburg. This game will be played by Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

Scotland, who are the champions of the Zimbabwe Premier League for the 2025 season, have signed the players who were the stars of Chiefs, Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat and Terrence Dzvukamanja who once ran for Orlando Pirates.

It is coached by Norman Mapeza who once coached at Chippa United and was also an assistant coach for the Zimbabwean national team.

This Zimbabwean team, established in 2023, will play for the first time in the Caf Champions League next season.

This annual friendly competition, which marks the start of the new season, will be played for the third year since its inception in 2024.

Last year, Chiefs drew 0-0 with Asante Kotoko of Ghana and ended up losing on penalties and in 2024, they were beaten 4-0 by Young Africans of Tanzania.

“First of all, we thank the coaches and the whole team for the good work they have done by placing us in third place on the log. But regarding the future of the club and our plans, announcements will be made soon at the right time,” said Motaung.

“Everyone is waiting to hear about news about the coaching staff, the entry and exit of players and other changes. But the most important thing today is to present the Toyota Cup. In the next few weeks we will be making announcements regarding the coaching staff and players, as well as our new jersey which will be the one we will be playing in for the first time in this Toyota Cup competition.”

Motaung said just like this, the fans of this team are looking forward to the announcement of a new coach who will lead it next season following its separation from the two coaches who were training together, Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.

The coach from France, Fernando Da Cruz, is gaining momentum that he is the one who is expected to be announced soon as the coach who will take over the Chiefs next season.

Apart from the coach, it is expected that the Naturena team will officially announce the players it has signed, and those it has dismissed.

A few weeks ago it was revealed that it had signed a defender, Thabo Moloisane, from Stellenbosch FC.
