He put it in the hands of the managers of Kaizer Chiefs for the future, the coach, Cedric Kaze, who held this position with Khalil Ben Youssef.

Chiefs finished the 2025/2026 Betway Premiership season in third place on the log with 54 points, securing a place in the Caf Confederation Cup. Amakhosi was the last in the 2019/2020 season to collect more than 50 points in a season led by the coach, Ernst Middendorp from Germany. In that season, they failed on the last day to win the league title which was eventually snatched by Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kaze and Ben Youssef were given the task of sharpening the Chiefs after the dismissal of Nasreddine Nabi who were his deputies. The management clarified that these coaches will hold until the end of the season. Amakhosi closed with a 1-0 defeat against Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.

Kaze said he hopes that what they did to the Chiefs will make it difficult for the management when they have to make a decision about their future.

“It is in the hands of the board. Next week we will meet to review the season. We are coaches and there are things we have to put on the table that can move the team forward. It will be a discussion between the two parties who are already sitting well together,” said Kaze.

Kaze is talking like this when there are widespread reports that the Chiefs have started looking for a coach. These coaches include Pitso Mosimane who won the Caf Champions League with Sundowns and Al Ahly from Egypt.

If the Chiefs managers choose to continue with Kaze and Ben Youssef, they will have the opportunity to continue the work they have started.

“We will submit a report on what happened and what needs to be done because next season there will be more expectations. This team should play for the trophies, starting with MTN8. I am not happy with what the team has achieved, I believe we could have done better at times. But I hope we have raised the standard, brought back hope and pride to the team. Now it is time to leave the cup campaign,” said Kaze.
