If you immediately think of the quotes “Are we there yet?” and “You cut me real deep, Shrek” think if you hear the name of the beloved animated character Donkey, Universal and DreamWorks’ latest film plans are sure to grab your attention.

The beaked donkey in the Shrek-movie franchise debuts on June 30, 2028 with its own movie titled Donkey on silver screens worldwide.

Hollywood Reporter reports award-winning actor Eddie Murphy once again lends his voice to Shrek’s chatty traveling companion.

Donkey investigate the donkey’s past and how he eventually became the beloved green bull’s best friend.

However, Donkey will lose his wits on the silver screen again next year when Shrek 5 making its debut in movie theaters.

Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz return to the fictional land of Far, Far Away in their respective roles as Shrek and Fiona. Actress Zendaya also joins the cast as Felicia, Shrek and Fiona’s daughter.

Shrek became a hit movie in 2000 and grossed more than $500 million worldwide. The movie also won the first Oscar statuette for Best Animated Feature Film.

From the Shrekfranchise has four sequels and two Puss in Boots-movies spawned, which earned more than $1 billion (about R16 billion) worldwide. The four Shrek-sequel movies grossed a total of $2.9 billion (about R48 billion) at the box office worldwide.
