THE COACH of Richards Bay FC, Ronnie Gabriel, praises the majesty of the right winger, Sanele Barns, for the difference he brought to this team which is struggling to finish the season in the Top 8 at the end of the season.

Barns’ goal in the first half helped Richards Bay come back with three points in the first leg defeating TS Galaxy 1-0 in the Betway Premiership at Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit, on Sunday.

In the 12 games he has played for Natal Rich Boys, Barns has scored three goals and assisted in one.

He continues to be a key player in this KwaZulu-Natal team which is also among the teams struggling to secure a place in MTN8 next season.

“Sanele Barns is doing a good job for the team. He is passing on his experience and energy to the younger players in the team by being a good example to them.

“The few goals he has scored have made a difference in helping the team. Since he came to the team he has made a noticeable difference,” said Gabriel who trains in collaboration with Papi Zothwane.

Barns’ form and Richards Bay’s recent run comes with a crucial test as their next match will be against Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday at 5.30pm, at the Mhlathuze Sports Complex, Richards Bay.

In the last three games, Natal Rich Boys managed to come back with seven points by beating Stellenbosch and Galaxy separately, and drew with Orlando Pirates.

“It was very important for us to get a good result on the move and to maintain the momentum we have started.

“When we got good results against Stellenbosch and Pirates, we saw the need to continue and not change the scheme we are playing with, even though we got a good result.

“It wasn’t an easy game to face TS Galaxy, a boring team with determined and brave players to face, so we are grateful for the three points we got.”

The recent form of the Rich Boys combined with their good performance at their home ground, the Mhlathuze Sports Complex, where they have lost once, is creating a lot of excitement with their match on Sunday against Sandawana who are on fire as they have won ten Premiership games in a row.
