IHONIFIED the late musician Winnie Khumalo, her daughter Rethabile as she released an album saying that she is looking for her mother who will not be forgotten by many.

Rethabile released the album In the future which he says means a lot to him as it has emotional songs about his mother’s abandonment last year, as it talks about their healthy life until she passed away.

This album that came out last Friday is Rethabile’s third since she followed in her mother’s footsteps by getting into music.

“With this album and the existing songs, I will open up to people for the first time about the pain I felt when my mother passed away and how I have faced this situation as time has passed. Although I will not get over it, but I have learned how to live after my mother is gone. I am talking about how music has helped me to rediscover who I really am and I have come to this situation that I did not imagine. The first song that is heard on this album is Eldersit speaks well of everything I’ve been through and I think people will see how disappointed I was because I made it all public,” she said.

He said that some songs talk about love, pain, hope and spiritual growth that he experienced during this time.

“I have used different languages to make my songs as we are a blessed continent with different languages. There are songs I sing in Zulu, Xhosa and Sepedi, so that everyone can enjoy them. People will hear my conversations with my mother and the music we used to record while sitting at home that I have used in this album. With this album, I respect her for the work she has done in this country, she and I would not be separated. We got along, and this is a way of saying thank you,” she explained.

What Rethabile believes in now is that he is looking to heal himself by making this kind of music so that his mother is not easily forgotten, but lives on in the hearts of different people.
