All these questions and exclamations have spread on social media where fans are asking and answering the reason for the appearance of the league cup in Pirates games but not in the champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
Most of them complained that they first saw it in the match between Pirates and Richards Bay FC that ended 2-2 at Mhlathuze Sports Complex on April 10, as it also appeared in the home team’s match against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday at FNB Stadium, Nasrec.
In fact, this trophy was present at Chatsworth Stadium when the defending team, Sundowns, faced Durban City in a match which they won 1-0 on April 7.
Since this cup is not different from the one that was won by the Brazilians at the end of the season, it is possible that the sponsors will use a big game like the home team in Soweto to promote it again.
