REACHING the finals and winning the Nedbank Cup would be a bonus for the chairman and coach of Milford FC, Xanti Pupuma, as he clearly states that the main thing for him is to see this team increase the number of teams in the Betway Premiership, in Richards Bay.

Milford, who play in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, booked their place in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup by beating Sekhukhune United 3-2 on penalties on Saturday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane.

This team from Richards Bay, which is on the verge of making its own history in Nedbank, is left with Casric, who also plays in the Motsepe Championship, Durban City and TS Galaxy, in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup.

“Winning the play-off trophy is something that any team wants, so we are also happy to go to this stage of the competition that we have reached now.

We at Milford treat every game we play as equally important, regardless of whether it is in the league or the playoffs.

So reaching the finals and winning the Nedbank Cup would be a bonus for us as a team but the most important thing is to win the league title and play in the Premiership, and increase the number of teams playing in the Premiership in Richards Bay,” said Pupuma.

“Our victory in Sekhukhune at the right time, our players need to regain confidence after we were beaten in the home game by Midlands Wanderers.

So it has come at the right time as we are going to play Cape Town City in the league game, which is a game in which we really need points.”

Milford, which is in second place in the Motsepe Championship log, will play Cape Town City today at 3.30 pm at Athlone Stadium, Cape Town, in a highly anticipated match, since both teams are also fighting for the league title.

City is in third place with 35 points, just behind Milford with 36, while Kruger United topped the table with 37.

Casric Stars are also in contention for the title and in fourth place on the log with 34 points, they have an important match against the University of Pretoria tomorrow at 3.30 pm, at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, KwaMhlanga.

Motsepe Foundation Championship Games:

Today – At 3.30pm:

Cape Town City v Milford FC (Athlone Stadium)

Tomorrow – At 3.30pm:
