The police in the Western Cape are investigating an incident in which three people were shot dead in Joe Slovo, Milnerton on Saturday evening.

According to col. Andrè Traut, police spokesperson, said the incident took place at around 10.30pm in Freedom Way.

“When the police arrived at the scene, members found a silver-colored Toyota Avanza with multiple bullet holes. In the vehicle, the bodies of two adult women were found. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.”

According to Traut, the third victim was found a few meters from the vehicle.

“The body of a 36-year-old man was found a few meters from the vehicle. He was also pronounced dead at the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently being investigated.”

According to information that the police received from a family member, the man who died was previously involved in the taxi industry. One of the women was apparently his girlfriend.

“These details are currently being checked as part of the wider investigation. The motive for the attack is still unknown and no one has been arrested so far,” said Traut.

He further confirmed that the case has been assigned to the provincial detectives for serious and violent crime.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact the police urgently by calling the StopCrime number on 08600 10111 or using the MySAPS app.
