Yesterday, at the High Court in Thekwini, we heard the application of the inheritance dispute between the former police officer of the Thekwini Municipality, Mr. S’bu Mpisane and his ex-wife, Ms. Shauwn Mkhize.

It was expected that the court will listen to the request for inheritance dispute following the marriage divorce that was issued by the court in November 2024. However, it was not reached how they will divide the inheritance.

Mpisane wants a few things to be reviewed regarding the division of inheritance since they were married in a consanguineous marriage.

Mpisane, who was dressed in a black suit with short sleeves, was seen arriving at the court hoping that his case would be heard. However, he was seen being called outside by his lawyers, to discuss something, after which they were seen leaving. He had a relaxed look on his face, showing no signs of being tired or upset.

It is a country found out that his lawyers were advised to write a letter to Ms. Mkhize, forcing her to be present in court when Mpisane’s application is heard. For that reason, the case ended up being adjourned, and it was not clear when it would be adjourned again.

According to the court documents, Mpisane wants the second section of the divorce decree to be reviewed, to add other items, which reveal the ongoing dispute over the assets they received during the marriage which includes inheritance.

The marriage of these two broke down after more than 20 years of marriage.

As it happens, Ms. Mkhize is being chased by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) for a tax debt estimated at between R37 million and R40 million.
