You see Orlando Pirates is the one who has more pressure than Orbit College coach, Pogiso Makhoye, who holds the key for Pirates with the title of the Betway Premiership league.

Orbit will meet Pirates in one of the games to wrap up the 2025/26 Premiership season, which is eagerly awaited by South African football fans and will be played at Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit, on Saturday at 3 pm.

Pirates, who are in second place on the Premiership log with 66 points, need a win at Orbit in the dark red to move Mamelodi Sundowns to the top of the log with 68 points, and be the one to win the Premiership title for this season of 2025/26.

Last Saturday, Durban City stopped the Pirates celebrations at Orlando Amstel Arena, Soweto, fighting them to a 0-0 draw in a game where Zimnyama needed three points to become champions of the Betway league.

On the other hand, Orbit, which is playing at home, is fighting for life and death to avoid being relegated back to the Motsepe Foundation Championship stage, and to avoid the hassle of going to play in the PSL Promotion Play-Offs.

Orbit, who are in 15th place on the log with 24 points, just above Magesi FC who are at the bottom with 21, need three points in their game against Zimnyama and pray for the defeat of Marumo Gallants who will play against Stellenbosch FC this Saturday at Dr Molemela Stadium, Bloemfontein.

Gallants are 14th on the log with 24 points equal to Orbit but they are slightly higher on goal difference.

“We understand that we are the ones who hold the key to winning the league for Orlando Pirates, so personally I see that they have more pressure than us because many eyes of South African football lovers will be watching our game as well.

We also have pressure because we need points, and even one point can make a difference for us and it depends on how Marumo (Gallants) and Magesi play,” said Makhoye.

“We will face Orlando Pirates who are like an angry lion, which is dangerous to face. But our players know what is expected of them in a game of this type, which makes it not difficult for us in the coaching team to encourage them.

The truth is that it will be a difficult game for us, but anything can happen because this is a football game, things happen that leave people in awe.”

However, this coach seems to have accepted that his team may play in the Play-Offs.

“As I said, getting a point in this game for us can still make a difference. Playing the Play-Offs can also be a second chance for us to fight to return to the Premiership, which is a division that has opened our eyes a lot in our first season playing in it.”

Betway Premiership fixtures:

Saturday – 3pm:

Durban City v AmaZulu FC (Chatsworth Stadium); Lamontville Golden Arrows v TS Galaxy (King Zwelithini Stadium); Kaizer Chiefs v Chippa United (Moses Mabhida Stadium); Magesi FC v Richards Bay FC (Seshego Stadium); Marumo Gallants v Stellenbosch FC (Dr Molemela Stadium); Orbit College v Orlando Pirates (Mbombela Stadium); Sekhukhune United v Siwelele FC (Peter Mokaba Stadium)
