THE people of this country who use electricity will have a hard time as the municipalities will increase it next month. This increase in electricity has come at a time when some taxi associations will increase fares in KwaZulu-Natal due to the increase in costs.

The MKP party has criticized the government for raising the costs faced by the people of this country. MKP spokesperson, Mr. Sifiso Mahlangu, said that people are struggling because of the increase in costs all around.

“The unemployment rate is high, and the economy is not growing, so people will continue to suffer. This increase is due to the weakness of the leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa,” he said.

He criticized the ANC and the GNU coalition government for failing to address the challenges facing the country.

“The government is failing to fix the problem of unemployment. It is also failing to deal with the problem of hunger that mocks the people of this country. The standard of living is high and the people of this country are about to face an increase in electricity.”

He said they will cancel the electricity increase that will be made from next month.

“Enough is enough. The people of this country must remember the pain brought by the ANC when they vote on November 4.”

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa), published the percentage of major Metro municipalities, which will increase money from July 1. Those municipalities are Tshwane, Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg.

As this happens, Eskom, the company that provides electricity in the country, is continuing with the plan to install smart meters in different areas. The company said it wants to end the problem of power outages in other areas next year. 1.7 million smart meters have been installed in different states.

The company was recently praised for ending the blackout program in order to save money. It has been a year since the electricity was cut off in the country, which was recommended by President Cyril Ramaphosa recently.
