TS Galaxy COACH, Bernard Parker, sees the young player, Seluleko Mahlambi, who can play in any team in the Betway Premiership and overseas.
Parker has been given the job of coaching the team entirely after being arrested late last year for the 2025/2026 season. He coached Mahlambi for one season on the DStv Diski Challenge in the 2024/2025 season, before the player was promoted to the big scheme.
Mahlambi (21) who plays in the sides came to prominence in the Premiership in his first season. He scored six goals and assisted five in 30 games in all competitions last season.
He is linked with the biggest teams in Gauteng, namely Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. He was nominated for two Premier Soccer League (PSL) awards, namely Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season and Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament.
“Seluleko, I was still coaching at DDC after being released by Cape Town City. When I arrived at the senior team, I told the coaches, ‘you should give this boy a chance because there is something different about him.’
“In fact, it didn’t take long before he was promoted to the senior team, he showed why he deserved to be given a chance,” said Parker.
“He is a type of modern winger by giving defenders a problem, attacking in space from the back, then coming back from the front. It is not easy to predict how he will attack.
“Personally, I see him playing better than any team in the Betway Premiership, even abroad.”
The coach also stated that he would appreciate another opportunity to continue working with Mahlambi for another season.
“Here at TS Galaxy, we build and sell. But at the moment we feel it is not the time for him to leave. I don’t want to lose him. It would be good to have him for another year because I know he will do for the team this coming season.”
The Rockets, who finished the 2025/2026 season in 12th place on the log, have recently introduced 14 new players as they prepare for the start of the season.
Among them are Sifiso Ngobeni from Cape Town City, Siphesihle Tati from Lerumo Lions and Nhlanipho Ngwenya from Durban City’s small team that plays in the Diski Challenge, to name a few.
The Galaxy will open the 2026/2027 Premiership season with an away match against Siwelele FC on August 2, at Dr Molemela Stadium, Bloemfontein.
