ORLANDO Pirates swept all the coveted awards when the Premier Soccer League (PSL) announced the best players in the 2025/2026 season.
Zimnyama, who won the Betway Premiership, MTN8 and Carling Knockout league titles, walked away with ten prizes last night.
The favorite of Mzansi football fans playing in Belgium, Relebohile Mofokeng, received three awards namely Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season, Betway Premiership Player’s Player of the Season and PSL Footballer of the Season.
There is no question that his winning these awards will build his reputation in his new team Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and in the Belgian league.
Mofokeng’s teammate at Pirates, Oswin Appollis, ended up taking home the Betway Premiership Midfielder of the Season award. The award for the best coach of the season, which was contested by the coaches of the three teams that finished at the top of the log, namely Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, went to Zimnyama’s Abdeslam Ouaddou who led them to end the years of failure to win the league title.
The chairman of the PSL, Irvin Khoza, said that the Mamelodi Sundowns player who was killed last weekend, Jayden Adams, was remembered for the awards of the previous season. He chose to give him the PSL Chairman’s Award.
After that, he thanked the managers of the PSL teams for the work they are doing in Mzansi football as this organization completes its 30th anniversary.
“90% of the players who played for Bafana Bafana in the World Cup came from your teams. Today the history of Bafana in the World Cup is being celebrated because of your work. Only this year, 30 years ago, South African football was reviewed and organized. Three men, myself, Kaizer Motaung and Raymond Hack, put our heads together,” said Khoza.
