WONDERING about what Mamelodi Sundowns are doing when they are still represented by Kaizer Chiefs in the home game will not help Orlando Pirates in the race for the Betway Premiership title.

This is the answer the Pirates coach, Ouaddou, gave to the media when they asked him about the help of Sundowns to stay in the top following their loss of points against Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday at home.

Ouaddou was speaking at a press conference yesterday, in Houghton, Johannesburg, about the highly anticipated Pirates and Chiefs league match on Sunday at 3 pm, at FNB Stadium, Nasrec.

Pirates have the opportunity to first widen the gap at the top on Sunday, since Sundowns also have an important away game against Richards Bay FC on the same day but at 5.30 pm.

Instead of showing happiness for what Stellenbosch has done for them, Ouaddou is focused on his team paying attention to Chiefs who are next.

“The most important thing is that we expect a different Chiefs than the one we just faced because their recent results prove this,” said Ouaddou.

“Getting confused about what Sundowns are doing when we have a difficult game like Chiefs would be like killing ourselves while we are watching.

“We know what we want at the end of the season and we understand that in order to get there we have to go through the hurdles like facing the in-form Chiefs.

“It forces us to be strong in this game because the Chiefs are going in a good way when they still have a grudge that we just beat them.

“The important thing to always remember is that we can only control what is in our hands, and we leave everything else to the creatures of football,” said Ouaddou.

The battle for the title between Pirates who are on top with 58 points and Sundowns who are second with 57 but have a game left, is getting more intense as there are only a few games left to wrap up the season.

Iall Betway Premiership matches this weekend are as follows:

Today:

Durban City v Orbit College (Chatsworth Stadium, 7.30pm); Golden Arrows v Siwelele FC (King Zwelithini Stadium, 7.30pm).

Tomorrow:

AmaZulu FC v Chippa United (Moses Mabhida Stadium, 3pm); Sekhukhune United v Marumo Gallants (Peter Mokaba Stadium, 5.30pm).

Sunday:

Orlando Pirates v Kaizer Chiefs (FNB Stadium, 3pm); Polokwane City v Stellenbosch FC (Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, 3pm); TS Galaxy v Magesi FC (Mbombela Stadium, 3pm); Richards Bay FC v Mamelodi Sundowns (Mhlathuze Sports Complex, 5.30pm).
