There is NO need and time for Orlando Pirates players to pay attention to what is being said about them on social media because their setback to Kaizer Chiefs is very small compared to the opportunity to complete the good work they started in August, last year, which they are standing in front of.

These are the words of encouragement said by the coach of Pirates, Abdeslam Ouaddou, to his players when he spoke to the media he had a press conference with following the 1-1 draw with Chiefs in the Betway Premiership match on Sunday at FNB Stadium, Nasrec.

This result disturbed the Pirates who are in a fierce league title race with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Although Pirates are still on the top, they are one behind the top as they have 59 points, which makes them one better than Sundowns, who are in second place with a game left (58).

After the home game, the feeling coming from the Pirates camp pointed to disappointment since this team came with a heavy heart as they just beat Chiefs 3-0.

“The time we live in forces me to protect my players from everything that will be said about them on social media because of the result we got against Chiefs,” said Ouaddou.

“I know that I will not stop them from saying everything they like about Pirates on social media, but what should be known about my players is that I am proud of them.

“I will not accept that the work they have done since the beginning of the season has been spread by meaningless articles on social media.

“If I had the power, I would tell my players to leave the social media until we finish the work that is left for us.

“We will not give up until the end no matter how many times we stumble.

“Everything that happens to us is because it is necessary, so it will not help the players to pay attention to what is said about them because of the collision,” said Ouaddou.

When Pirates return to the field against Stellenbosch FC on May 5 – Sundowns are busy preparing for the Caf Champions League final – they will play at home and away against Polokwane City.
