ALTHOUGH political parties have expressed concern about the R20 million funding for the Metro FM Music Awards in Durban this year, preparations are continuing as the nominees will be announced on Thursday.

According to the report ofMercurywas discussed at the Economic Development Committee in the Thekwini Municipality where the ACDP councilor asked the reason for funding the event with this money.

The President of the Durban Ratepayers and Residents Association, Ish Prahladh, said that it was money that could have been better used to meet the needs of the community.

The spokesperson for the Municipality of Thekwini, Gugu Sisilana, was quoted as saying that the council approved last year that the awards be funded.

He said there was R10 million, and the manager of the council’s money was ordered to find another one.

These days the channel is talking about the fact that the nominees will be announced on Thursday from 6 pm.

On a weekday morning show broadcast by DJ Sabby and Candice Coulsen, it was pushed for this event and that the awards will be held on April 25.
