The ruling party in the KwaZulu-Natal government, the NFP, is in danger of missing the next local government election.

Dissatisfied NFP members have written to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), requesting that the party not be allowed to participate in the much-anticipated election.

These members want the IEC not to accept the current NFP leadership who were elected at the 2023 conference.

There are NFP members who are challenging the results of the 2023 conference. With the discovery ofOf this country 15 members have written to the IEC.

It is a country see the message of the Acting Secretary General of the NFP, Mr. Sunset Xaba, where he reprimands what he calls a spy.

In this message seen byOf this countryXaba said their temporary investigation revealed that among those who want the party not to participate in the election, there are those who are not satisfied with the results of the 2023 conference, and those who are not satisfied with the dissolution of the leadership elected in 2019.

The leadership that was elected in 2019, was dissolved after the High Court in Pietermaritzburg, found that the principles were not followed during the conference.

The case went all the way to the Constitutional Court, which also agreed with the decision of the High Court in Pietermaritzburg.

In the message, Xaba went on to say that others who want the party not to be allowed to contest the elections are in the leadership positions.

“When they say they are fighting for the party, but the truth is that they are working with people who are fighting the party. Some of them were expelled from the party. We are worried about their actions as they endanger the future of the party. We will take appropriate measures. In time, we will reveal the names of the people who did this.”

Continuing in the message, Xaba said that they managed to avoid the stick of those who wanted the party to be allowed to contest the election.

“We urge the members of the group to remain vigilant because it is clear that these people will continue their efforts. We have overcome many challenges in the past and there are many more that we will overcome if we are to be united.”

Affected by Swhich is heardXaba refused to comment on the matter.

“They said we shouldn’t talk about this because we haven’t received their letter (those who want the party to be allowed to contest the election). It means we can just come back and talk.”

Until press time, the IEC spokesperson, Ms. Kate Bapela, had not answered the questions. The NFP has had problems with the IEC because of it’s constant leadership rivalry.

Before the 2023 conference, the NFP was no longer receiving its grant from the IEC because there were rivalries.

In the past, the NFP has missed local government elections.

In 2016, the party did not contest the local government elections due to failure to pay the entry fee on time.
