This week, Israel shared intelligence-driven information with the US about an alleged Iranian assassination plan on Pres. Donald Trump of the USA.

According to Israel, the plan was “very specific”. The information was shared in the midst of the US and Iran attacking each other for the second consecutive day on Thursday as tensions rise anew over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

CNN and the Wall Street Journal of the US reported that “assassination threats against Trump are regularly investigated”, but that Israel’s information “points to a brand new plot”.

Tehran has vowed for years to repay Trump for his 2020 order to kill Qassem Soleimani.

AFP approached the White House in Washington for comment, referring to Trump’s remarks during his visit to the NATO summit.

“They want to take out the leader of the USA – me. I’m on a so-called list. I saw this morning that I’m on each of their lists,” Trump told journalists on Thursday on his return from the summit on Air Force One.

Trump returned from Turkey on an older Air Force One, while he sent his new plane ahead to England, where he only then changed planes for the last part of his trip. The New York Times reported on Wednesday that the exchange was done at the request of the US secret service “as a security precaution”.

Meanwhile, AFP reported that six people were killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip on Thursday. The area’s civil defense agency and health officials confirmed those deaths.

According to the defense agency, the victims died in drone strikes and due to gunfire.

Two of the people were killed and several injured when drones hit the Nuseirat camp. Hospitals have confirmed they have received the bodies of the six deceased.
