The son of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, and his co-accused, Tobias Mugabe Matonhodze, have withdrawn their bail application.
The pair appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning, where they were expected to formally apply for bail.
It turns out that their plans have changed, instead they will enter into negotiations with the government.
Their case has been postponed to the 17th. The two will be remanded in custody.
Mugabe and Matonhodze are facing many charges, including attempted murder, possession of firearms and ammunition, violating the law, theft, pointing a gun and violating the Immigration Act.
The two are accused of shooting Mugabe’s employee, 23, at his home in Hyde Park in February, leaving the victim in critical condition.
