The Madlanga Commission is expected to continue its work on Tuesday after the short Easter break as Kurhuleni Municipal Police Deputy Chief (EMPD) Julius Mkhwanazi is expected to return to testify.

Jeremy Michaels, spokesperson for the Commission said that 49 witnesses have testified in 84 days. Michaels previously announced that the commission will take a recess for Easter on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, to resume on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

He said President Cyril Ramaphosa extended the Commission’s time so that it could proceed with the long list of witnesses who are yet to testify under oath. The Commission has yet to announce the next witness.

On the last day before recess (March 24, 2026), the Deputy Chief of Police for Property Protection and Security at the Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD), Revo Spies, testified about criminal gangs that have infiltrated the municipality.

He explained in detail about the illegal tender program for monitoring municipal buildings, which involved Gubis 85 Solutions, which is a security company that was involved in the testimony of police officers under the Gauteng Organized Crime Unit, Sergeant Fannie Nkosi.
