PINDE brought together seasoned and young players who have done well when he selected the squad that will play in the Nations Championship next month by the coach of Bobokoboko, Rassie Erasmus.

The young players who performed well when the Springboks beat the Barbarians 80-31 on Saturday have been retained in the squad, giving them a chance to play their first official game.

Erasmus also brought back two scrumhalf players who have not been seen in the national team for some time, Embrose Papier and Herschel Jantjies.

Papier, who runs for the Vodacom Bulls, last played for the Springboks in 2018 and Jantjies, who plays for the French team, Bayonne, last appeared in the national team in 2023 before they defended the World Cup.

“We are happy with the quality of the team we have chosen and it is great to see a new generation of players like Riley, Vusi, Paul, Carlü, Ruben and Jaco,” said Erasmus.

“They all know how the Springboks work and how to play expected at this level. They have shown that they are comfortable in this area, which is why we are happy to see them take this step.

“Embrose and Herschel have also shown themselves with their good performances this season, we are looking forward to welcoming them back to the team after a long time of keeping them.”

The Springboks will open the Nations Championship by facing England at Ellis Park, Johannesburg, on July 4, play against Scotland at Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria, on July 11 and close with Wales at Kings Park, Durban, on July 18.
