Milford FC’s forward, Siphosethu Ndlabi, emphasizes the importance of winning their Motsepe Foundation Championship season-ending match against Hungry Lions to secure a place in the PSL Promotion Play-Offs.

Milford will face Lions in one of the Motsepe Foundation Championship games at 3pm at Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium, Upington.

What makes the match between Lions and Milford so eagerly awaited is that both teams are in contention for a place in the Play-Offs to fight for promotion to the Betway Premiership.

Kruger United will be officially crowned as the 2025/26 champions of the Motsepe Championship tomorrow after their match against The Bees, KaNyamazane Stadium, KaNyamazane.

Milford, Lions, Cape Town City, and Casric Stars, are the teams that have a chance to secure a place in the Play-Offs with the team that will finish 15th in the Premiership log to be played from May 26 to June 13.

Milford is in second place with 53 points, City is in third place with 51 equal to the Lions with 51, Casric is in fifth with 49.

This team from Richards Bay needs three points or one in their match against the Lions tomorrow to secure a place in the Play-Offs.

The Stallions, who reached the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup, if they end up booking a place in the Play-Offs it will be the first time since the 2023/24 season which was their first season in this category following the purchase of the Motsepe Championship certificate from Thongathi FC.

“We stayed at the top of the log for a long time but we ended up missing out on the title, so it’s no use crying over the spilled milk now. The most important thing for us is to fight to return with full points from Upington to the Hungry Lions so that we can play in the Play-Offs. The Play-Offs are our hope to fight to enter the Betway Premiership,” said Ndlabi, who hails from Mmangweni, Lusikisiki.

“We know that we will face a tough game against the Hungry Lions who also need points like us as they are also fighting to play in the Play-Offs but we are committed to fighting to win this game. Even though we know that playing in a draw can still result in us going to play the Play-Offs, but what we are committed to is to fight for victory because it would affect us and put us at risk.

Apart from the match between Milford and Lions, other matches that are being watched are City and Leicesterford City at Dobsonville Stadium, Soweto, and Casric and Gomora United, at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, KwaMhlanga.
