Erik Fleming was sentenced to prison this week for the Friends-actor Matthew Perry’s death in 2023.
Fleming, a licensed addiction counselor, was sentenced in California to two years in prison for his part in Perry’s death.
Perry (54) was found dead on 28 October 2023 in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles, California.
Fleming, 58, admitted conspiring to supply Perry with ketamine. He is the fourth of five people sentenced to prison for Perry’s death.
Fleming will spend two years behind bars after which he will be released on supervised release for another three years.
“There was significant evidence that Fleming supplied the drugs that led to Perry’s death,” Assistant District Attorney Ian Yaniello told the Los Angeles court.
Jasveen Sangha, a British-American woman who was dubbed the “Ketamine Queen” and established herself as a drug dealer for celebrities, was sentenced to 15 years in prison last month.
Sangha ran a drug emporium from her luxury apartment in Los Angeles, where she sold drugs to wealthy customers in the US entertainment capital.
She worked with Fleming to supply a total of 51 tubes of ketamine to Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa.
Iwamasa repeatedly injected Perry with the ketamine provided by Sangha, including on October 28, 2023, when he administered three injections of Sangha’s drugs to Perry, ultimately causing the actor’s death.
Iwamasa is also expected to be sentenced this month. Two doctors who cashed in on Perry’s addiction were also sentenced, including one who openly said: “I wonder how much the moron will pay.”
Perry used ketamine under supervision as part of treatment for depression. However, prosecutors say that by late 2023 he had become addicted to the drug, which is used as an anesthetic. Ketamine also has psychedelic properties and is a popular party drug.
