PART of the temporary leadership team of the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal, was axed when the General Secretary of the organization, Mr. Fikile Mbalula, described it as a Tazz car.

Mbalula announced the changes in the provincial leadership while speaking to the media, yesterday, in Durban. He made the announcement after meeting with the leadership in the province.

In these changes, prominent leaders including the former team organizer, Mr. Jeff Radebe, the former deputy organizer of the team, Mrs. Weziwe Thusi, and the former deputy organizer, Mrs. Nomusa Dube-Ncube, were killed.

The former organizer of the team, Mr. Mike Mabuyakhulu, is the one who will be the producer of the team.

The former mayor of Thekwini Municipality, Mr. James Nxumalo, has been appointed as the organizer of the team. The former secretary of the Department of Co-operative Governance and Indigenous Affairs, Mrs Bongi Sithole-Moloi, has been appointed as Deputy Producer.

The Mayor of Mkhanyakude District Municipality, Mr. Siphile Mdaka, has been elected as Deputy Convenor. Trustees; Mr. Siboniso Duma and Ms. Nomagugu Simelane will continue in their current positions.

Mbalula announced that the number of team members will be reduced. Earlier, Mbalula complained that the team that was there was failing to do its job and compared it to a Tazz car. But yesterday, Mbalula did not want to criticize the team in charge.

“Their time is over. We made changes because we want the party to work better in the province. I don’t want to focus too much on the past. We have taken a closer look at the situation in the province and we know what we have to do. We will assign members of the executive committee to assist the team. Members of the executive committee will be assigned to all regions.”

Mbalula thanked those who were part of the team. He said Radebe has been given another job in the group.

“We will announce soon what job you have been given.”

Mbalula also stated that they will hold meetings in all the regions where they will inform members of the organization about the decision that affects their relationship with the alliance that will run for local government elections independently, the SACP.

“We will inform all members of the organization about the decision taken at the special executive council meeting last week. We have already started to inform the unions about the decision of the executive council. We will talk to veterans in the ANC, the women’s wing and the youth wing.”
