Magesi FC’s START on a good footing in the PSL Promotion Play-Offs is a challenge to continue fighting to return to the Betway Premiership like other teams that have returned to these games in previous seasons.

Magesi, who survived relegation from the Premiership by finishing 15th in the Premiership log, still has a chance to stay in this division as they are leading in the Play-Offs games that have been played.

It got full points beating Cape Town City 2-0 on Saturday at Seshego Stadium, Polokwane. They are still tied on three points with Milford, who also came back in the first match of the Play-Offs, beating City 1-0.

Today at 3 pm, Magesi will face Milford at Mhlathuze Sports Complex, Richards Bay.

Apart from Durban City and Cape Town City who did not play in the Play-Offs for the 2022/2023 and 2024/2025 season separately finishing in 15th place in the Premiership log, there are teams in this category that have survived in the past seasons. These include Black Leopards in the 2019/2020 season, Chippa United in 2020/2021, Swallows FC in 2021/2022 and Richards Bay FC in 2023/2024.

After today’s match against Milford, Magesi will play against City in the second round on June 10, and then close against Milford on June 13 in Seshego.

Allan Freese, who took over the coaching duties at Dikwena tsa Meetse, has the challenge of rescuing this team from being the third Limpopo team to be axed this season in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). Others from Limpopo were eliminated by Baroka FC and Leopards in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

On the other hand, Milford went a long way in the Nedbank Cup and reached the semi-finals, giving it a good chance to play two consecutive home games.

After today’s game, the Stallions will play the second round against City in Mhlathuze on Saturday at 3 pm.

The successful promotion to the Premiership of this team coached by Xanti Pupuma, will increase the number of Richards Bay teams in the Premiership category, joining Richards Bay FC.
