CAPTAIN of Bobokhoko, Siyamthanda “Siya” Kolisi, said goodbye to the fans in Durban, who did not disappoint with two tries when he helped Hollywoodbets Sharks beat Zebre Parma of Italy 54-19 in the United Rugby Championship (URC) season finale.
This game, which was attended by a large number of fans, even though it meant nothing more than being Kolisi’s last, was held on Saturday afternoon at Hollywoodbets King’s Park Stadium, Durban.
Kolisi announced some time ago that he will leave the Durban team and return to DHL Stormers which will help him to be closer to his family in Cape Town.
Kolisi apologized to the Sharks fans after the last game of the season which was his last wearing the Sharks uniform before starting the new season with the Stormers in July.
Although the Sharks hit the mud this season, especially in the URC, their fans did not give up since the home games were always attended by large numbers of fans.
It is because of this love for the team shown by Sharks fans that Kolisi was forced to announce that he is sorry for leaving them but he is forced by the situation.
The player’s compulsion to leave the Sharks is also confirmed by reports that the amount he will earn per month in Cape Town is very small compared to what he took home when he was at Banana.
“The truth we cannot escape as players is that we have disappointed the Sharks fans this season,” said Kolisi.
“I feel honored by the way I was received in Durban, when I arrived but I left with a hole in my heart.
“Although my heart aches for leaving without leaving anything behind, I will always remember the time I spent with the Sharks and their fans in this city that has become like home to me.
“Thank you for making me feel like a member of the family, but I’m sorry that we didn’t give them the fans they deserved when the team had all the best players you can think of.”
