ONE of the newly appointed coaches at Kaizer Chiefs, Cedric Kaze, was upset with the condition he described as unreasonable that was set by the Naturena team, by including it in the Caf Champions League.

Although the Chiefs had the opportunity to extend the contract of Kaze from Burundi and Khalil Ben Youssef from Tunisia who held their jobs when Nasreddine Nabi was fired, they decided to release them as the season ended.

What makes this decision of the Chiefs leave some of its fans shocked is that these coaches helped the team to finish in the best place in the last six seasons.

On top of this, Chiefs returned with their sweat to the Caf Confederation Cup under Kaze and Ben Youssef following their third place finish in the Betway Premiership.

According to Kaze who was speaking on Marawa Sports Worldwide (MSW), their third place finish is subject to the condition set for them to include Chiefs in the Champions League which is achieved by finishing second.

The coach, who also revealed that there is a Premier Soccer League (PSL) team he is discussing with for the position of head coach, described the Chiefs’ criteria as not making sense since in the two seasons before theirs failed to enter the TOP 8.

“They are talking about finishing in a place that will put the team in the Champions League, which was a condition that did not make sense when compared to the history of the team in the past five years,” said Kaze.

“In the past two seasons, Chiefs did not play in the Top 8, which is one of the things that the managers should have smelled their armpits about first.

“We entered the Confed Cup by winning the Nedbank Cup as the Chiefs are back again next season.

“We go to Makhosi with the pride that comes with knowing that we have left the team in a better place than the one we arrived at.

“We have done all this with the resources we have found, so we are proud of what we have done for this team that is among the hundreds in African football.

“What we have to accept is that it is possible that the Chiefs are trying another way to bring back honor to the team, which is important and we must respect it,” said Kaze.

Although the coach did not say by name that he is talking to Sekhukhune United, he confirmed that he is talking to the team that finished 10th in the log.

“I feel that I am ready for the job of being the head of the PSL because I have learned a lot about the league, the players and its culture.

“The talks are going well, but I can’t say anything at the moment because it’s still being discussed,” said Kaze.

Since Sekhukhune parted ways with Eric Tinkler at the end of the season, many coaches have been linked with him since the last games they ran were Paulus Masehe sitting on the bench.
