THE COACH of Kaizer Chiefs, Cedric Kaze, points out the importance of Glody Lilepo who plays on the sides and forward in this team that is struggling to finish in third place in the Betway Premiership log which will give them the right to the Caf Confederation Cup.

Lilepo (28) joined Chiefs in the middle of last season from Valenciennes FC in France. He has scored key goals for Amakhosi in the Premiership and the Caf Confederation Cup this season.

This forward from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in his first season in Makhosi scored six goals, he had a hand in one of the 19 games he played.

This season he has netted seven times in different competitions, three in the Premiership, four in the Confederation Cup, he had a hand in two.

“I believe that he is a very experienced player, he has played in big teams, and he has many skills. He is a player who can play in different positions and is quick. Apart from playing on the sides, he can play as a striker as he played against Magesi, and in 20 minutes against Durban City he even scored a goal,” said Kaze who was released by Chiefs to help the Burundi national team as it is the week of international matches.

“He knows how to keep the ball, and he is a player who does not rush when he is in the box. There are not many strikers like that, who can do like him.

The goal he scored against Durban City, where he took two steps to get into the right place, away from the stopper, is what makes me consider him a key and special player in the team.”

Lilepo is equal in goals with his fellow striker, Flavio Silva, who has five in the Premiership, one in the Nedbank Cup, and one in the Confederation Cup.

Both, Lilepo and Silva are some of the key players that Makhosi is relying on as they have shown a strong comeback in recent games which puts them in a position to move AmaZulu FC to third place on the log as they have two games left.

Amakhosi, who are in fourth place in the Premiership log, will return to the field after the Fifa and Nedbank Cup break, by meeting Orbit College on April 6 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Gqeberha.
