Ahead of the quarter-final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup between England and Norway, in Miami, players from both teams held a moment of silence in honor of 25-year-old South African midfielder, Jayden Adams. The players, officials and spectators stood to remember Adams, who represented South Africa in the tournament a few weeks ago.

The England national team took to social media, writing: “A moment’s silence before kick-off, following the tragic death of South Africa’s Jayden Adams. Rest in peace, Jayden.”

The same thing happened in the match between Argentina and Switzerland on Sunday morning.

South African comedian and former “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah was also among the people who honored the player.

Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie remembered player Jayden Adams, describing him as a humble and dedicated player. Adams died after burying his grandmother a few weeks ago.
