The principal of Mpumulwane Primary, KwaMaphumulo, Mr. Sithembiso Khumalo, wept when the High Court in Durban sentenced him to life imprisonment for the murder of a police officer from the Durban Council, Captain Zwelakhe Ntombela.

Judge Bruce Bedderson lamented Khumalo’s greed and said that it was the hole in his life. Ask him what he wanted from being able to work well and earn well.

“What you did is very bad. It shows that you are a greedy person. Tell me, since your wife also earns a salary as a teacher, how much money do you have when you put it together? What caused you to find yourself in this situation?” speaking towards Khumalo.

It said that even though Khumalo is 56 years old, there is nothing they can do but sentence him to life imprisonment.

“A life sentence is the only one that deserves it. The worst thing is that you have never shown any remorse since this case started.”

The judge again went up and fell on him and said that he has painted a picture of him as a liar as it was presented that he deceived the court by saying that he has kidney problems and a heart that tells lies. After that, Khumalo burst into tears until he had a fit.

In the case of possession of the deceased’s gun, the judge said he was sentenced to 8 years. As for the possession of the ammunition, she said she was given a sentence of one year and six months. He said that he will serve all these sentences at the same time.

Khulani Cele, who is already inside, is condemning the ox and said that the chicken’s mouth is cut off so that a person who is serving a life sentence cannot commit a crime again. It turns out that Cele was sentenced to life in prison in 2014 for brutal murder.

The judge also called him a liar as it was revealed that he begged himself not to be sentenced too much and said that he has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of the Western Cape which when investigated it was found that this institution never had those courses.

She said that on top of the life sentence she has, she wants to give him one more because it is clear that he is interested in being in prison.

The lawyers of the two stood up at the end, starting with Khumalo who said that they will challenge the court’s decision.

It is now history that the deceased was shot and killed in his house in S, Mlaza and died at a hospital in Siphingo.

After that, the ox that shot Ntombela was arrested and immediately came to the court where they accused and named all those involved in the killing of Ntombela.

Among the people who revealed that they were involved in the plot were the wife of the deceased, Mrs Faith Ntombela, Cele and then Khumalo himself.

Faith was accused of Sigonyela’s bracelets and was denied bail until she prostrated herself in front of the court and pleaded guilty to murder.

Yesterday, a chapter was closed in the case of Ntombela’s murder as all those involved are now in prison.
