“It ALWAYS worries us to see a lot of women working in different organizations in the government and private companies, who end up with just that – they can achieve great and good things in the jobs they work hard for every day.”
This is what Ms. Ayanda Mafuleka, Chief Executive Officer of Finance Accounting Services SETA (FASSET), said. It is a country which is why they decided to collaborate with the Auditor General South Africa (AGSA) and the African Women Chartered Accountants Organization (AWCA) – to start a program to empower and sharpen women with strategies and knowledge to help them become honest leaders in the work they do.
Ms Mafuleka said that the program they call the Women Leading in The Public Sector Programme, is not the first step they are taking to try to help civilize and develop women, as they started with what they did in 2022 to 2025, which helped more than 2,000 women who were included in it.
“Those who helped us a lot because in those three years, they were able to travel to countries including Singapore, USA, England, Kenya and Ghana – to learn about different things that now help them to continue their different jobs, especially in management positions.
“We were very happy to see that at least 15% of those women have already started doing things and activities that show that what they have learned in our program is helping them and bearing tangible results in their lives,” said Ms Mafuleka.
Continuing, he said that in their current program, they are looking to help more than 500 women who work for private industries and government agencies, and they expect it to take at least two years to sharpen and refine them completely.
“Among the most important things we will teach them are strategies for dealing with disagreements at work, and how to build and strengthen relationships with different organizations, including investors, for mutual development,” he said.
He said that this program will be completed in March 2028, and then they will continue with other good programs that will improve the women they are planning to do. He said this includes finally having a framework that will continue to make a difference in the community in rural areas with the aim of building, discovering and developing women to become independent.
