Pres. Donald Trump of the USA said on Wednesday that Iran had dragged on for too long to reach an agreement on the conflict in the Middle East and now “will have to pay the price”.
Trump’s post on social media, in which he says that the Iranian army is “totally defeated”, follows after the US and Iran opened fire on each other. This has put pressure on the ceasefire that came into effect in April.
“The bully of the Middle East is dead! They took too long to reach a deal – which would have been great for them – now they will have to pay the price,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social social media platform.

However, Trump told reporters on Tuesday that negotiations to end the war were in the “final stage” and could be concluded within “two or three days”.
On Tuesday evening, American forces announced that they had carried out attacks on Iran in retaliation for an American helicopter that was shot down on Monday.
The US later said the US Air Force and Navy had targeted command and control centers, defense installations and surveillance systems in Iran.
Iran, meanwhile, said it attacked US military bases in Jordan and Bahrain on Wednesday.
