The team (PKTT) arrested a famous healer from KwaMashu for allegedly plotting the murder of ANCYL member Thamsanqa Kingdom Gcabashe and Metro Police Lindokuhle Madonsela and Ndumiso Thusi.
This arrest follows a thorough investigation into the three murders that took place between May and June 2020. So far, six people have been arrested and are facing charges related to the murder.
Among those arrested was a member of the committee of the ANC branch of Hammersdale, Holy Shozi. On 26 May 2020, Mr. Thamsanqa Kingdom Gcabashe was shot dead outside his home in Section G, Mpumalanga Township, KwaZulu-Natal. The investigation later revealed that Gcabashe was not the target of the murder, but was killed after the thugs who were hired to kill confused him with Durban police officer Lindokuhle Madonsela. 14 days later, on 9 June 2020, police officers Lindokuhle Madonsela and Ndumiso Thusi were attacked while on their way to work. Thusi was going to pick up Madonsela when the armed suspects opened fire on their car, killing her instantly at the scene. An investigation by the KZN Political Killings Task Team (KZN Political Killings Task Team) found that the suspect believed that Madonsela had a romantic relationship with his wife, so he arranged for her to be killed. After Gcabashe was accidentally killed, the suspects are said to have reunited and tracked down the person they really wanted to kill, which led to the shooting that killed Madonsela and her colleague, Officer Thusi.
The KZN Political Killings Task Team has identified, linked, arrested and charged five people in connection with this killing. The defendants are Fana Shabalala, Zamokuhle Nyandu, Mthokozisi Ntando Blose, Holy Shozi and Sandile Msezane.
The defendants are facing charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The investigation revealed allegations that they were hired and paid to do the work. Ballistic evidence linked the two places where the crimes took place.
The alleged mastermind was arrested on Friday, 24 July 2026, and is expected to make his first appearance at Hammarsdale Magistrates’ Court today.
