South African runner Zakithi Nene CONTINUED his good form in world-class races, finishing second in the Paris Diamond League race, setting a time of less than 44 seconds in Paris, France, on Sunday.
Nene from Mnambithi finished second with a time of 43.89 sec in the 400m distance. He was sitting on the heels of Collen Kebinatshipi from Botswana who took first place with a time of 43.54 sec setting a new Diamond League record.
Nene recently set her best time (PB) of 43.76 sec which she recorded in Nairobi, Kenya, last year, which puts her among the fastest African runners in the 400m distance.
Nene’s exit from the Paris Diamond League at the weekend follows his spectacular performance at the Stockholm Diamond League, Sweden, on June 8, where he posted a time of 44.48 sec.
Another South African runner who did well in the Paris Diamond League is Akani Simbine who finished fourth in the 100m with a time of 9.97, while the winner is Trayvon Bromell from the USA with a time of 9.91.
For women, Prudence Sekgodiso finished fourth in the 800m with a time of 1:56.83, setting her best time (PB) under 1:57.00 for the first time since she started running.
Marione Fourie failed to reach the final of the 100m hurdles, finishing sixth in 12.66.
The fourth leg of the Diamond League will be held in Eugene, Oregon, on Saturday.
