ALTHOUGH the cheeks of some celebrities who have done well in the 2026 Comrades Marathon are red, but others are moving forward.

Afro pop singer, Sabelo Ngema, said he was satisfied with the result he got after running the Comrades Marathon on Sunday. USabelo of Afro Soul, who was the first to run this race from Durban to Pietermaritzburg, beat a time of ten hours, seven minutes and 54 seconds.

“In my entertainment role, we say that the actor prepares himself – and I believe that this is done in all walks of life. I have been preparing for the Comrades Marathon and the results are satisfactory.”

Although this singer from Nhlwathi, Hlabisa, is happy, but the actor who is Detective Nyawo in Zalo, Cebolenkosi “Mr Vibe” Mthembu, is not happy at all. Mr Vibe (46) said this year he failed to finish the race since he started participating in it since 2018. He said he was just passing by Polly Shorts (KwaNkawana) when it was announced that the race was being closed.

Even so, he said he was already hearing the words out loud and it is not a small thing to run 50 km. It will be remembered that Mr Vibe injured his ankle in 2024, which forced him not to run the race last year. He said he hopes he will do well next year as the Comrades Marathon will be heading to Durban. Some celebrities did this at this year’s Comrades.

Kaito singer Kabelo Mabalane, who finished the race for the 14th time, beat09:28:26. Jazz singer Mandisi Dyantis, who finished the race for the fourth time, beat08:53:19, the Wave broadcasterSiyabonga ‘Heazy’ Madida, debutant, beat 11:45:02, Algoa FM presenter and former Yo TV presenter, Carly Louw, who finished the race eighth, beat 10:10:13, 702 presenter, Clement Manyathela, who finished second, beat 10:06:15, former 702 presenter,Redi Tlhabi, who finished the race for the seventh time, clocked 10:58:53, the Deputy Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure in the country, Sihle Zikalala, finished the race for the first time in11:22:25. Others who have done well are the Deputy Minister of Finance David Masondo who beat10:33:16, which was the eighth time finishing with MP Makashule Gana, who was finishing sixth, clocked 10:35:00.
