Despite dropping points in the last three games, Durban City’s coach, Pitso Dladla, is still determined to strengthen their place in the Top 8 at the end of the 2025/26 season.
City, who were beaten 5-2 by Magesi FC on Sunday at Seshego Stadium, Polokwane, were coming back from another two-game losing streak by being beaten by Mamelodi Sundowns and Lamontville Golden Arrows 1-0 separately.
But despite dropping points, City is still in the top 8 as it is in sixth place on the log with 35 points.
This team from Durban has a challenge to get up and take care of themselves with the home game they will play against Orbit College tomorrow at 3 pm at Chatsworth Stadium, Chatsworth.
“Our main goal is to finish the season in the Top 8. The remaining games come with many changes. The important thing now in the remaining games is that we return with points to finish the season well, because if we don’t do that it will mean failure,” said Dladla.
“We will sit down with the players and remind them that the season is not over, and remind them of the importance of finishing the season in the place where we are determined to finish it.
We cannot hide the fact that we want to finish in sixth place. It won’t be easy but there will have to be cooperation from all of us to finish the season well as we started it well again.”
In addition to losing their streak in their recent games, Citizens, which is its first season in the Betway Premiership, has shown to be a team with great goals for success in this division, as evidenced by its current position in the log.
Although the remaining five games look difficult, they have the challenge of fighting to return with points in order to keep a place in the Top 8.
