SPOKESPERSON of Parliament Mrs Thoko Didiza says that nothing will stop or distract her from doing her job honestly as a committee has been formed to consider the removal of President Cyril Ramaphosa from office, over the issue of the discovery of US dollars in his Phala Phala farm, in Limpopo.

Mrs. Didiza said that everything she does follows the principles and the Constitution of the country.

He dismissed as nonsense what the ATM Member of Parliament, Mr. Vuyo Zungula, said about meeting with Ramaphosa’s lawyers after the decision of the Constitutional Court, which dismissed the Parliament on the matter of this money.

The court overruled the decision of Parliament to refuse to accept the report of the team that was mandated to investigate the theft of this money. The report of the team led by the former Judge, Sandile Ngcobo, found that it is possible that there are policies that Ramaphosa broke. Zungula wants Mrs. Didiza not to be a part of the plans to supervise the committee’s performance as she also advises if there are problems in the committees.

“I reject what Zungula said about my role in the matter concerning the meeting with Ramaphosa’s lawyers. I have never met with the president’s lawyers.”

He said that Zungula said that he did not trust that the Speaker would not intervene in this matter.

“The Speaker is a member of the ANC and is assigned to Parliament. He is a member of the executive committee as well as the committee responsible for the day-to-day operations of the ANC. He is allowed to attend ANC meetings as is the case with other parties.”

He said Zungula’s accusations seek to create a negative image of the Speaker and his role in the issue affecting the president.

“The Speaker has followed all the rules set since the Constitutional Court’s decision. He did not hesitate to start the appropriate plans to form a Parliamentary committee.”

The Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Moloto Mothapo, dismissed Zungula’s allegations that the Speaker will be biased in this matter as he is one of the people who rejected the report in 2022, representing the ANC in Parliament.

“Mrs Didiza voted as a Member of Parliament representing the ANC which is legal. She has committed herself to continue doing what is expected of her as Speaker,” said Mothapo.
