WHEN counting the ladies who came to be heard in music last year, the name of the lady from Mlaza, south of Durban is not left out – De Rose who is one of the artists who came to be heard, doing wonders with the song Lutho from DJ Jaivane’s album Onkgopotse.

Apart from Lutho who sold more than 50 million streams, De Rose also brought in his song with Sfarzo called Hello, which also did well selling double platinum, and he also did well with his first album that came out in November last year called 925.

Narrating how he helped her achieve all this in a short period of time in music and being a female artist, she said she was helped by expressing herself in a different way than other artists as she sings with a combination of Rn’B and Hip-Hop, which makes her different from others.

“That makes me sound different from normal, so many people often ask me if I used to be a rapper, which indicates that the way I sing is not at all similar to what people usually listen to in music,” he said.

Continuing, De Rose said that one thing he is careful about is that even if he sings a song with a message that is not specific to another, but its message must be strong and weighty – which finds a special place in the ear and in the mind of the listener.

“It’s like the song Lutho, which contains a message that doesn’t affect me that much, but because I knew that someone would touch him – I allowed myself to be in the situation of the message it contains so that I can do justice to it,” he added.

He said he is determined to continue to build on what he has achieved now through his music to help pave the way to achieve something bigger, which will help him grow and prosper in the role.

De Rose’s birth name is Thandeka Cele, and she is currently in the headlines with her new Hip-Hop song Easy, featuring Blue Pappi and Lowfeye.

He has worked with a number of artists including Frank Mabeat, Tycoon, Babalwa M, Sino Msolo, Kelvin Momo, Nomfundo Moh, Tyler ICU, Murumba Pitch, Soa Matrix, Cnetemba Gonelo, Stixx, Sam Deep and Omit ST just to name a few.
