Businessman Vusimuzi Cat Matlala is in a special court for commercial cases in Pretoria.

It is reported that Matlala pleaded guilty to charges of corruption and money laundering and entering into a plea agreement with the state. This is about the 228 million contract that his company received from SAPS.

The magistrate asked the state whether it would confirm the plea agreement and sentence. The state responded that there are senior investigators who produced an affidavit that reads as follows: “The suspect has indicated that he wants to enter into a plea agreement and sentence. I understand that the defendant will plead guilty to fraud, the defendant was assisted by police officer Rachel Matjeng.”

On Wednesday, Matlala appeared alone in court and it was revealed that his case was separated from the other suspects in the matter. The police suspects are expected to appear in court on Friday.
