Dunevax Biotech confirmed on Friday that the latest shipment has successfully arrived in South Africa. According to the company, the last batch of two million doses will arrive in the country before the end of May.
The vaccine has been specifically formulated for Southern Africa’s epidemiological requirements and offers protection against the SAT1, SAT2 and SAT3 serotypes of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD).
According to David Gerber, director of Dunevax Biotech, the company remains focused on supporting farmers, veterinarians and authorities in the fight against BKS.
“Every shipment delivered strengthens the country’s ability to protect its livestock and support the broader agricultural economy. Our main goal remains to restore vaccine availability and provide meaningful relief to the agricultural sector during this critical period,” says Gerber.
The company says South Africa is moving closer to stabilizing vaccine availability for strategic BMS control and restoring the livestock industry with the latest delivery.

Meanwhile, Dunevax has also submitted a new section 21 application to the South African Health Products Regulatory Board (Sahpra) for permission to import another 14 million doses of the Dollvet vaccine.
The application has not yet been approved and is currently undergoing regulatory assessment.
Dunevax says it continues to work with the government, regulators, veterinary authorities and other stakeholders to ensure the responsible supply of “scientifically appropriate” vaccine in support of South Africa’s national BKS control strategy.
