Female singers from Durban, Bongekile Simelane popularly known as Babes Wodumo and Naledi Aphiwe Myongwane have faced the law.

This follows that they were employed at the Action Bar in Shakaskraal, KwaDukuza, but they have not been paid for two periods.

The two of them in the papers that have been given to them by the lawyers, it appears that they were hired for the event that was held on May 2 this year but they did not come.

It turns out that the owner of the place had an agreement with them that if another event happens, they will come.

On June 27, there was another event and the two even made videos that they posted on their social media pages promising to attend.

A Solezwe source revealed that the owner of the property has taken legal action as they were not answering calls and did not want to return the money.

At the beginning of the month, a statement was released on Facebook where the local management apologized to the fans for not coming. They promised to take legal action because of the non-return of money, the expenses incurred and the tarnishing of the name of the place. They compensated local guests with free admission to the event featuring Dankie Boi, Tipcee and DJ Banana.

“They are being arrested now as they do not want to return the money and they are not answering their phone calls and they are not responding to emails sent to them regarding this issue. They have received the documents I am giving you but they have not responded. The owner of the property has complained a lot about it and said he lost it,” explained the source.

In the documents Isolezwe has, it appears that they must pay the money they were hired for and the expenses incurred for them to be part of the event.

It turns out that Naledi wanted R30 000 for coming to this event. Babes was hired for R16 000.

The country tried several times to contact the two, but they did not respond to emails sent to them on Monday until yesterday.

The country then contacted the owner of the event and entertainment venue, Johnson Govender, who said that although the matter is with his lawyers, he wants his money from these artists.

“They have not responded to the documents that were sent to them. Naledi Aphiwe has returned R25 000 and the one that is left to her, I want it and I also want compensation for what I went through by planning the event for two periods without them coming. Contact my lawyers and they will help you with this matter,” said Govender who sounded annoyed.

As it happens, at the weekend there were unconfirmed reports that Babes was arrested for contempt of court as he did not appear in court when required.

However, on his social media pages yesterday, he seemed to be posting pictures. In another, he turned his back and said: “Hello, my dears, I ask that your day be like my body.”
