It has come as a shock to many that Sandlwana Lodge, which is one of the places with a good history as a place to welcome visitors, is looking for a new owner.

This place, built near the Sandlwana battlefield, shows you everything that is on this very important battlefield between the British and the Zulu. The Battle of Sandlwana, which took place on 22 January 1879, is remembered as one of the most important events in the history of Africa and the world where the Zulu defeated the British who were carrying guns, King Cetshwayo came with spears, maces and shields.

Today, the battlefield attracts historians, military researchers and tourists who attend an annual commemoration of the war. The tourists come from different countries around the world and some who are in this country are just blown away by the wind but also looking to see places with history and national heritage.

According to the United Nations, 40% of international tourists visit here to learn about culture, including heritage sites and local traditions.

“Sandlwana Lodge is unlike any other place that welcomes tourists in South Africa, but it prides itself on the prosperity of tourism linked to cultures around the world. The place it is built attracts many people,” said Norman Raad, the chief executive officer of Broll Auctions and Sales who will sell the property at auction on March 25.

The shelter, shaped like a shield and built of stones and grass to resemble the barns of KwaZulu, was built with pillars supporting the roof based on the West Street Pier in Durban. Each one is named after a Zulu army commander or someone who played an important role during the Sandlwana battle. This place was built on the mountain of Nyoni, where Ntshingwayo – the commander of the Zulu army – was letting the troops go separately.

It was officially opened by King Zwelithini of Bhekuzulu and Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi in 1999, other prominent guests who were here included President Jimmy Carter, and members of European royal families.

The luxury resort can accommodate up to 26 guests in 14 luxurious en-suite bedrooms, and is well known for offering the highest level of care, delicious food cooked in the hearth, and natural beauty overlooking the mountains, hills and plains.

Access to this area takes three and a half hours from King Shaka International Airport, Durban.

This property is being sold as is and is still functional. It is confirmed that the auction will take place on March 25th.
