ICHERY South Africa has finally confirmed that the Tiggo 4 will be the first to be built at its newly opened factory in Rosslyn, Pretoria.
Chery bought a factory that was previously owned by Nissan.
The company revealed that production will begin in the first half of 2027 when it will build gasoline and hybrid vehicles.
Chery will be closely watched to reveal what cars it will build.
Its subsidiaries Jetour announced that it will produce T1 and T2 and recently Jaecoo said it will start with J5.
Chery Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo Cross are the favorite cars in the country as from the beginning of the year until June 11,322 were sold.
The Tiggo 4 Cross will be the first to be produced and it is planned to build 15,000 when the volume increases until the end of the year.
Chery has promised to keep all 692 workers at the factory and plans to hire more.
It is still investigating whether there is a need to build a van in the future.
