THE COMMUNITY wants the family of two suspects to be deported from Mabomvini, KwaMaphumulo, who are said to have brutally killed a man from Makhabeleni, who was mentally disturbed on Sunday, after three weeks in the area.
In this incident, Mr. Mduduzi Mlondo’s throat was cut, it is said that he had gone to eat meat at a local event on Sunday. His body was found by people, and it was placed near the road on Monday.
According to his cousin, Mr. Vusi Mlondo, the deceased had left home at noon, going to a party and the suspects also attended the same party.
He said that they saw the deceased until the evening and he did not return, which is something that could happen, but they did not pay attention.
“We were surprised when members of the public called us to tell us where the dead person was seen, when we arrived he was lying down, his throat had been cut and he was sitting outside. We also noticed that he had been beaten because the sticks he used to beat him with broke, and were left there next to the body,” said Mlondo.
He said that what confused them was that there were no blood stains where the body of the deceased was found, which made them suspect that he was killed somewhere else, then dumped somewhere else.
He said they had attended the same event and told the public on the spot that they saw the same sticks and who was holding them at the event.
“Someone went straight to them, and they came and admitted that they killed him. They said they killed him because he came to them and knocked loudly and kicked the door,” said Mlondo.
He said, however, the public found this to be unsubstantiated as the deceased used to wear slippers and when looking at the shoe prints in the suspect’s yard and at the door, only one shoe print was seen.
He said that the suspects asked those who had already raped them to take them to the place where the body was found before the police arrived.
He said that right now as they are preparing for the funeral, they want the family of the accused to bear all their expenses because they still don’t know that the person who committed the crime did not pursue anyone, why is he being killed?
He went on to say that they want a meeting with the head of the village they have just been appointed to, to explain what information he received about them before he appointed them.
“If a person leaves where he left, he is removed for reasons. We want to know if they were removed from where they came from because we suspect that a lot has moved them if they can kill someone as soon as they arrive,” said Mlondo.
He said what they found was that the suspect’s house had not been built, they were still living in their grandmother’s house, he said they had never seen the suspect’s parents as they seemed to be living alone with them.
“All we are saying is that in order for there to be peace in the area, we want them to be deported because this family will not continue to live freely, while we have been killed for a relative,” he said.
The chief of the area, Mr Swache Ngcamu, who revealed that the suspects are from his family, said that they were shocked by the incident as well as the leadership and the community.
Ngcamu said that after hearing about the incident, he quickly ordered the caller to call the police, and the suspects were given Sigonyela’s bracelets.
Narrating their origin, he said: “Although their family was recently placed in Mabomvini, they came from KwaMambulu village. The sovereignty of these two villages is the same. The people who were placed by their parents, they were sent to stay to help during the construction work.”
He said that after the incident, he called the parents of the suspects to him, and he said as It is a country was contacting him while a meeting of the indigenous leadership was going on about the issue, he revealed that tomorrow, they plan to meet with the family of the deceased.
“We heard that there was drinking at the party, and they went to bed, the deceased knocked on their door, then they came out with sticks and beat him. We don’t know if they killed him. That’s why I immediately called the police. They did something terrible,” said Ngcamu.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza, said the Matimatolo police arrested two suspects, aged 29 and 30, for murdering a 48-year-old man.
“The suspects are expected to appear at the Greytown Magistrate’s Court. The victim was found with stab wounds in the Sthundu area on Monday. The cause of the murder is still unknown,” said Magwaza.
