LOSING points for Mamelodi Sundowns in the last two matches of the Betway Premiership, has left them with the challenge of getting up and taking matters into their own hands as they will face Polokwane City twice in a row.

Sundowns, who are in the hottest competition of the Premiership league with Orlando Pirates, were interrupted by Stellenbosch FC in their game, holding it 1-1.

It also threw away another chance to return to the top of the Premiership log with a 1-1 draw with Richards Bay FC on Sunday, at Mhlathuze Sports Complex, Richards Bay.

The Sandawanas are in second place in the Premiership log with 58 points behind Orlando Pirates who are on top with 59. They will face Polokwane today at 7.30pm, at Seshego Stadium, Polokwane.

They will face Polokwane again in the second round on Sunday at 3 pm, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria.

Rise and Shine, who struggled to stay in the Top 8, seems to be the one holding the key to the Sandawana league title in the league competition.

This team from Limpopo challenged the Sandawanas last season as they beat them 1-0 in the first round of last season.

So this makes the two games that they will play against Sandawana be closely watched to see if this team can once again disrupt the streak of this team from Pretoria who are still going it alone by winning the Premiership titles in consecutive seasons since the 2017/2018 season.

The stopper of Sundowns, Khuliso Mudau, thinks it is very important for them to wake up and take on Polokwane.

“This is the time for us to deal with each game, not to put pressure on ourselves because of what is happening.

“The game we will play against Polokwane City will be a difficult game, especially since we will be playing two games in a row with them in a short period of time.

“But it is important that we win in Polokwane, bring back hope and bring happiness to our fans after dropping points and playing two games in a draw, which is something we don’t usually do,” said Mudau.
